This past weekend, our sisters participated in USC Relay for Life! We had a blast walking for 12 hours to create a world with more birthdays. We raised over $1,500 as a team, and helped USC raise over $176,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Relay for Life is a fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or path for 6-24 hours straight. At USC, Relay for Life starts at 5p.m. and goes until 5a.m. the next morning. This is to signify that cancer doesn’t sleep, and cancer patients don’t give up because they’re tired, so neither do we.
Relay for Life is filled with fun activities, on-sight fundraisers, emotional and motivational ceremonies, and much more. Two of our sisters even competed in a lip-sync competition, and sang “Beautiful Soul” by Jesse McCartney. This year, Kappa Delta sold baked goods and “Cancer Sucks” bracelets at the event. We ended up raising over $150 at the event!
This was such a fun night, and we already can’t wait for next year!
